I can't win. EVER! No matter WHAT I do, SOMEONE thinks I am a total MORON!!!!
In a way, I really don't care.
In another way....I ALWAYS care.
No matter HOW hard I work or HOW hard I try, everyday, I WILL piss SOMEBODY off!
Yeah, I know. I'm almost 40. Shouldn't I have figured that out a LONG time ago???
Yet, my very NATURE allows me to relate to a WIDE variety of people. This is what I was MADE to do. To RELATE. To CONSOLE. To LOVE. To show COMPASSION. To celebrate DIVERSITY. To ACCEPT.
I WANT to do this. I was BORN to do this.
My mental illness gets in the way.
No matter WHO I reach out to or what "fringe" group they belong to, something I do, some basic part of who I am.....is "wrong".
The Transgender girl/boy in the band I manage is giving me FITS!!
I worked my ASS off for her/him!! Okay, I did it for the mixed/lesbian I have known since she was a child who is ALSO in the band. I feel very MOTHERLY towards her.
But still. If I can accept the drug addaled, pyscho, transgender girl/boy for who s/he is, WHY can't s/he accept ME for who I am?
Why is it ME who always has to change? Why am I laways the one who is.....wrong?
Fine. I known these people NEED someone. They NEED to be shown LOVE, ACCEPTANCE,TOLERANCE.
They've been screwed over ROYALLY in their lives.
SOMEONE needs to show them some LOVE and COMPASSION.
It's the same old story of my life.
I'm TOO normal for the FREAKS, and TOO freaky for the NORMAL people. I fit in everywhere and nowhere at the same time.
I'm so tired of it.
When can it be okay to love Industrial Metal Music and Pedicure parties?
When can it be okay to be a Christian and a straight GLBT Activist?
When can it be okay to love animals, be a Vegetarian, and still think PETA does some weird crap sometimes?
When can it be okay to be supportive of "alternative" (HATE that phrase!!!) "lifestyles" and yet be ridiculed for my mostly "convential" one?

To have Purple streaks in my hair and to love Jesus?
To enjoy Industrial Music and to want to be home to fix my sweet, hardworking hubby dinner?
To absolutely ADORE my GLBT friends and still hope to NOT be considered a "freak" by many of the "Christians" I know?
To be proud of my GLBT Church and to be friends of Atheists?
To not really be "into" porn and think it is awesomely HILARIOURS to find out a friend is putting a "GLory Hole" in his closet?
To be an overweight Vegetarian?
To want to paint my nails Green and to think that being unable to express oneself WITHOUT using the "F-word" shows lack of creativity.
To Adore Carrie Underwood and to HATE Country "Music"?
To LOVE "Pysch" On USA& think that reality TV (American Idol included) is worthless, pointless drivel.
When, when WHEN will it be okay to be.........Susan?
To be Different/the same? To be Liberal/Conservative? To be Open Minded/yet VERY Opinionated?

To sometimes feel like a NUT, sometimes don't?

When will it finally be okay to be poor, pathetic, mixed up me?

Because I am QUITE sure the being SUSAN is the ONLY person I REALLY know how to be!

Equal?

Weddings, I'm not a huge fan. Oh sure, I enjoy celebrating the union of two people who love each other. But, I never DREAMED of weddings as a child. They're nice, but usually UNBEARABLY long and lots of pomp and circumstance that bore me silly.

That being said, my husband and I went to a wedding last night that was (blessedly) shorter that MOST, and had enough of the couples personality in it to make it fun and a TRUE celebration of the two unique people getting married. VERY sweet indeed!

At the reception, we sat with several couples, one of whom is a lovely gay couple. They married in Canada almost five years ago. One is a Teacher (works with MY hubby), the other is an AMAZING artist who has had his work recognized at the WHITE HOUSE!! Just two fun, adorable, wonderful people.

The (bland) DJ played a song and invited ALL of the marreid couples to get on the dance floor. Now, the Bride and Groom would have welcomed their gay friends to join them and trip the light fantastic. But, despite the gentle proding of MANY people at our table, this couple declined. They did not want to "ruin" their friends wedding reception by dancing together.
Very thoughtful friends indeed.
BUT......how very sad that they had to take that into consideration! The idea that two people, who love each other and are in a committed relationship, cannot DANCE together at a friend's wedding for fear of RUINING the celebration!!

Granted, MY dancing has undoubtedly ruined MANY a celebration...but that is ANOTHER matter!
I hope someday soon, the site of two men or two woman DANCING togther will no longer be seen as grounds for 'RUINING" a celebration.
Unless, of course, they BOTH dance like me!

No, I'm not dead!

Sheesh!!! A girl takes a couple weeks off from writing and POW!!
So here I am, my wonderful friends, blogging....just for you! It's all 'cause I love you, you know.
I found out something somewhat sad today. My husband is a teacher (NO, that's NOT the sad part.....well...unless you consider the pay....), and he was telling me about his day at School.
First: There are several gay Teachers at his school. We are friends with many of them. All typical family- types. Several are in long term committed relationships, home owners, dog lovers. They go to Wal-Mart. Cook dinner. Mow the lawn. Shovel their sidewalks in the winter. Basically, they are like all of the OTHER teachers. Normal humans doing normal things.
Okay, maybe the guys DRESS a little better/sharper....but, hey, you can't stiffle the fashion gene, now can you?
Anyway, the head of my husband's department has been there about 12 years, or so. Not sure how old she is, early 50's, maybe? Has a husband, grown children, ect.
She has been the head of said department for a few years now.
Apparently, she has let it be known that she does NOT approve of the "lifestyle" of her gay co-workers.
AND, it seems these co-workers are getting poor reviews because of it.
One in particular, a guy I really adore (he and his husband got married in Canada several years ago, just the sweetest couple you ever would meet), has been so discouraged but her words/actions, that he is thinking of QUITTING.
Now, MY first inclination is to go to the school on Monday and tell that old woman where she can stick it and remind her that the PRIVATE domestic lives of ANY of her "underlings" is none of her doggone business!
Not to mention, oh, I don't know.....discrimination?? Hello!!!
But, I won't do that because, well, my husband agrees with me but he would be MORTIFIED if I did such a thing.
Plus, in this economy, I don't want to jeapaordise his career. We have a house payment after all.
But it really irks me that in this day and age, disapproving of ones "lifestyle" is still a problem. And I thought I LIKED this woman. Who knew she was SO ignorant?
What's more, how is that considered professional for her to run all over that school telling people she "disapproves" of a co-workers lifestyle?
(The ironic thing, my hubby said, is that several of the teachers she complained to happen to be GAY!!! Just not as "out"....for obvious reasons...apparently).
WHEN is this nonsense going to end? Why is it still okay for so many people to "disapprove" of someone because of their sexual-orientation/gender identity?

Oh, I get why the "fundamantalists", like (some) of the narrow-minded people I went to school with, hold that opinion.
But won't THEY be surprised when they die and discover....there are GAY PEOPLE IN HEAVEN!!! ACK!!!
Actually.....that will be kinda humorus to watch...but that's just me.

I know, you can't fix "stupid". But, do me a favor. Heck, do ALL of us a favor. If you see that happen at YOUR job, or church, or wherever.....SAY something.
Stand up, even if it's just to say "You know what? I don't think this is work appropriate, lets talk about somethin else".
Lets let these people know that we won't stand around while ignorant homophobic/racist/anti-semitic ect. comments are made.

I have these neighbors that are very kind to me. Which is difficult since I AM a freak...it's true.
They are a sweet young family with three adorable, wonderful children, the best behaved darlings you have EVER seen. I think the WORLD of them.
But....they are conservative. ME...not so much.
They are SO freaked out over a "Black-Baby Killer" in Office...Oh. My.Head.
What IS IT with these STUPID "One Issue Voter" people??? So, that is a GOOD thing?? That you did NOT vote for CHANGE because of ONE...FREAKING...ISSUE????
So, lets talk ABORTION...you don't like it, fine..neither do I. BUT...if these women HAVE these babies that they cannot/will not care for...who will care for them???
Angelina Jolie, Madonna and Mia Farrow have done their part with adoption...WHAT exactly do the REST of you plan on doing? Anything???
Will you Foster a child? Adopt one? Be a Big Brother/Big Sister? What about the "difficult" kids? Will YOU be there for them?....for 18 years..??? Really???

and even then they do not hold a grudge..they only PROTECT themselves and their family from futher pain.

Ann Coulter Must Die

Oh...I REALLY hate Ann (Evil-nasty-hateful-ass-biznitch) Coulter.
WHY is she still HERE...on this EARTH??? She is using up my oxygen, damn it!!!

Typically, I do not like to give "press" to the media-hungry whores like Ann Coulter..I am conviced that half of what they say is for ratings sake...the other half because they were dropped on their heads repetedly as infants.
I could not even BEGIN to list all of the moronic things she has said over the years. Google it...you'll see.
But she was blessedly SILENT for awhile after Obama won. I got used to the "clean air"
But, she is BACK...like a persistant rash..itchy and annoying.
I don't watch the TV show "The View"...not for any Major reasons...I just don't have the time.
But I DO see clips of the show from time to time.
She was on The View recently...oh..dear..LORD!!!
I cannot even BEGIN to go through the idiotic HATE she spewed...but I was intriged by one particular thing.
She was talking about how she disliked that "Black/Mixed" Actors/Actresses/Musicians would only identify with their "Black" side when they became famous. Oh PLEASE!!!!
I won't even BEGIN to go into how my 17 year old Godson identifies as Black, even though he is very light-skinned ("High -Yellow" is what he tells me..) and could easily pass for White.
Or how my good friend "Medusa" was raised by her White family members, and totally shunned by her (black) father. But also subjected to HORRIBLE racial slurs by her extended "family" , not to mention the bigotry she faces for being a Lesbian.
She identifys as Black...is she wrong for doing so???
What caught my attention as the Evil-Moron Ann Coulter spoke (is she just a REALLY ugly transexual ...or what?....sorry...that is an insult to transexuals...they deserve BETTER than her...!!!) is that she mentioned Halle Berry.
Halle Berry ROCKS!!!
In particular, she mentioned how awful it was that Halle Berry thanked her "black mother in her Oscar speech, thereby excluding her white father". Ann-dumb-ass-Coulter's point being that "mixed" performers capitalize on their Black hertiage because it is "cooler"..more "trendy" somehow.
One problem...Halle Berry's mom is WHITE. Her Dad is black.
Halle identified as white as a child, although she was told by her mom that she would be precieved as black by other people, because of her darker skin.
She thanked her Mom because they are close, her Mom supported her, loved her.
Her Dad was....not as "available". ( Oh LORDY , can I ever relate to THAT!!!)
Halle thanked her Mom because she LOVED her, and was actually...THANKFUL!!!!
It wasn't a "Career Move"...not a carefully planned "Race Card".
She actually LOVES HER MOM!!!!

Six weeks after passing a gay rights law, the Kalamazoo City Commission has voted to rescind it. The commission voted Dec. 1 to make it a civil offense in the city of 7,200 to discriminate in housing, public accommodations or employment based on sexual orientation or being transgender. The American Family Association of Michigan submitted petitions with about 1,600 signatures seeking the law's repeal. If officials found at least 1,273 signatures valid, the commission would have had to rescind the law or put it on the ballot. The commission voted 7-0 Monday night to rescind it.The AFA's actions in Kalamazoo City are the result of deep-rooted hatred and pure evil. It's extremely disheartening to know that a supposed "Christian" organization that claims to protect families would willingly allow (and encourage!) employment and housing discrimination. This kind of discrimination limits a homosexual's ability to provide food and shelter for his or her family. There's a special place in hell for those kinds of "Christians." Source: WWMT-TV.

TOO Nice....?

Several of you already know what I'm talking about, but I though I might as well share it with everyone else.
I am TOO NICE...I am told this frequently.
In fact, I have heard this phrase so often in my life that it sometimes doesn't even register.
I have at least TWO long time friends that tell me this on a regular basis...as if I might have forgotten.
Now, I am not disputing this claim by any means. Afterall, if that many people tell me that many times that I am TOO NICE....I guess it must be true.
What I don't get, is why is that bad exactly? How am I hurting anyone else by being TOO NICE?
The funniest part is that I am usually told this by friends and/or co-workers/bosses.
And isn't THAT funny...that my BOSSES have often told me I am too nice?
I get the feeling that they want to help me, even "protect" me in some way.
But ironically, if I stopped being they way I was, I most likely wouldn't BE friends with those partcular people ANYWAY. The TOO NICE-NESS is partly what made us such good friends to begin with.
Some of these people are SURROUNDED with individuals who are negative, who critize, who do nothing but try to bring other people down. These friends are BOMBARDED with MEAN every day of their lives...they NEED a little TOO NICE in their lives.
Thats what I do....it's part of why I am here, apparently. To bring a bit of TOO NICE into the lives of people who need it.
Now, when my friends say this (and they often just do it to tease me at this point), I know they are only stating the obvious...and sometimes just pointing out WHY they love me....that's a GOOD THING.
With the co-workers...not sure....seems they just want to see me go off and cuss the boss out and slam a few doors.
Makes for fun TV...not so fun in real life. And who REALLY enjoys working with someone like that anyway?
With the bosses...I'll NEVER figure THAT one out! Because what the BOSS is saying is they want me to be rude/mean/tough/obnoxious.....with someone ELSE....NOT THEM.....!
That's what is so-ooooo funny about it all! In each of those instances, when I have taken the bosses advice and stood up (polietly of course...I'm still ME afterall...) to THEM for some injustice.....they are appalled!!!!
"When did you becaome so...NEGATIVE"...one of my former bosses once said after I stood up to her shady practices.
Um......didn't I just do what you TOLD me to do not more than a month ago...?

See, that's the thing. ALL of these people who think I am TOO NICE really mean I need to treat other people differently......not THEM.
I know this also from a friend I have know since the Summer of 1980, when we were kids at Church Camp.
I was always TOO NICE...she was always TOO MEAN....funny that we've been friends for so long.
But whenever, over the decades, that I have stood up to HER when she was pushing me around or blowing me off or some other such thing....she was SHOCKED...and NOT happy.
See, people really LOVE it when you are TOO NICE to them.....just not other people.
So here I am...STILL...turning 39 in a couple months....and I am just as TOO NICE as I always was.....
And I think secretly, my friends wouldn't have it ANY other way.

FINALLY!!!!!! 2008 is almost over!!!!! What a horrible year for so-oooo many people. Here are some random thoughts from my crazy mind....:
My husband is a political "junkie", he just loves to watch that stuff. So tonight we were watching some "2008 Year-in-Review" stuff. They had snippets of several of Obama's speeches.
Oh!!! I wanted to vote for him all over again!! he is one of the BEST speakers of all time!!!
Yeah, I know, there's the "Rick Warren" stuff......backwards, GLBT-Hating pastor chosen to give the prayer at the inauguration.
I don't LOVE that choice either. And I thought Warren's whole "Purpose Driven Life" deal was a bit saccrine.
But, Obama is the President-Elect of a VERY large and diverse nation. He is a politician. He must pander/appease at least a little bit to get things done.
He's still myPRESIDENT....and he is still FABULOUS in my book.
I cannot WAIT for him to be if office!!!!!!!!!!!

Dear God....WHY did Indiana leagalize fireworks for New Years????? My 3 dogs are SCARED TO DEATH of them!!! They are totally freakin' out right now!!!!!!!! I HATE MITCH DANIELS.

I still hate being forced to be on "Eastern Daylight Time" as opposed to CENTRAL Daylight Time like we should be on. I HATE MITCH DANIELS. (He's Indiana's Govener by the way...)

The sick, worthless guy in California that dressed-up like Santa and killed his ex-wife and her family and maybe other people and set fire to the house and then killed himself....
That is seriously sick beyond belief. Supposedly the first person her shot was an 8 year old girl!!!!
I hope he rots in hell.
But the weird thing that bothers ME (the animal lover), is WHAT happened to his beloved DOG??????
Supposedly he and his wife (that he KILLED) had a GORGEOUS brown Akita (I have an Akita-Chow mix) named Saki that this sick dude LOVED.
The (now dead) ex-wife got him in the divorce. The sick dude was crushed.
So now the ex, the sick dude, and her whole family is dead..........WHAT THE FU%K HAPPENED TO THE DOG!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Is he okay? Did his daddy kill him too? If not WHO is taking care of him?!?!???!?!?!?

So a guy in my town I don't know sent me a friend request on myspace. (He is a friend-of-a friend). He billed himself as the "Sickest Freak" I'd meet on myspace.
I accepted. I can deal with "sick freaks"..as long as no animals are involved.
He DELETED me a week later because of the "GAY stuff" on my site......

Did I tell you a bunch ofmy former classmates (LAkeland Christian Academy) deleted me on facecbook because I am "possessed by Satan" and "decieved by the Devil" because I have... GAY FRIENDS!?!?!?!?

New Jobs....?

O.....kay..... so most people that know me know that I am an..ecclectic person...to say the least.

I am a Christian, but I have friends who are Jewish, Buddist, Hindu, Agnostic, Mormon, Jehova's Witness, Wicca, Atheist...the list goes on.

I am friends with people of all races, ages, ethnic backgrounds, Sexual orientations/gender identity.

I have friends who are Conservative and Liberal. Democrat and Repbulican, young/old, black/white, gay/straight....any combo you wish...!

The Good: this makes for VERY interesting parties!
The Bad: these different groups of people don't always get along well with each other...obviously.

Oddly, I've always been a mix of different personality traits and interests/beliefs myself.
Some thoughts I have could be considered "mainstream", some "forwardthinking", some just..."whacked out". No surprise there I guess. You never really know WHAT you're in for with me!

Example: as you know I am "between jobs" since CHUPACABRA divorced me from my employement for Christmas. I now have TWO new "sort of " jobs.
I call them "sort of" jobs because they don't involve any actual pay, something those doggone bill collecters are so-ooo freakin' PICKY about.
JOB ONE: I am the hospitality hostess for my church (Unidiversal Charismatic Christian Church). They are a very welcoming, no-condemnation type church, so it's a perfect place for me. I am also on the Animal Ministry team. It's still a ministry in progress, but we want to help low-income, elderly, disabled, ect. people take their pets to the vet, get pet meds, food, spay/neuter their animals, go with them to the "last vet visit" (so-ooo very difficult!!!!), council and comfort them after a pet illness/death, and so on.
And very soon my friends, I will be an ACTUAL ORDAINED PET AND ANIMAL MINISTER!
Seriously!! ME! A Minister! (okay...I hear all of you laughing out there.......)

Of course, minisrty never REALLY translates to money....but that's okay. I'm excited about it nonetheless.

JOB TWO: I was recently hired to be the manager/promoter for a local Metal/Fusion band.
I have know one of the band members for several years. It just happened that they had a falling out with one of the band members and their former manager.
They were looking for a new Manager...I was unemployed....why not?
They are in a state of flux right now, but they are a great group. They write all of their own lyrics and music. It's really a cool, unique sound. It's a Rob Zombie/Techno/Marilyn Manson/Prodigy/Metallica/Moby kind of thing.....yeah...a bit hard to explain.

Gay Marriage........

December 10th, 2008 is "A Day Without Gays" day. http://www.jointheimpact.com/ came up with the idea of calling in GAY to work, and then spending the day volunteering, marching, protesting (peacefully, I hope) to show support for gay marriage.
As you may know, Proposition 8 passed in California, outlawing gay marriage. There has been a HUGE uproar in the GLBT and P-FLAG community ever since.
I also heard of a great idea for those of us who WANT to support this worthy cause, but realistically cannot take off work. Because, seriously, with the economy being what it is, people NEED their jobs, and let me tell ya, there are MANY places in this country where you would get fired (or WORSE) for calling in gay. Not good.
Even then, some people just plain need the money and cannot afford to give up a vacation/sick day.
Wear a white knot to work. White representing what people traditionally wear to get married, and tying the knot, ect. I believe this was first posted on http://www.whiteknot.org/ . When people ask what the white knot is for, you can tell them about prop 8 and gay marriage, gay rights/human rights and so on.
Beyond that, WHY do people so oppose gay people getting married? I fail to see how someone else's marriage, ANYONE else's marriage affects my own. Believe me, straight people have been screwing up marriage for a LONG TIME now. Lets give someone else a shot!
It just seems so arcaic to me. It's like looking back at when interracial relationships were illegal. We remember that and wonder how people could have been so blind, so foolish!
I hope someday, we will look back and wonder how on earth anyone thought opposing the union of two loving grown adults was considered acceptable. Be that 2 men, 2 women or one man and one woman.
Truthfully, I have seen as many (maybe more) examples or true committed love being demonstated by same-sex couples as hetro-couples. You can find positive and negative examples of ANYTHING! Why not give the gay couples the same basic rights as everyone else?
What does it hurt? How does it change ANYTHING that does or does not happen in my own life and home?
I just don't get it.

Okay...I'm new here....

So, I am currently rocketing towards 40, and I have (FINALLY) entered the computer age!
My dear friend Seth, out of the kindness of his heart, just gave my my FIRST computer. Okay, it's really a hand-me-down, but beggars can't be choosers!

And, yes, it is nearing the end of 2008, and this IS the first time IN MY LIFE I have owned a computer. Sad, I know!

I'm not yet sure what this will turn into, but I am hoping it will be another "positive" outlet for all the bizarre ideas, thoughts, fears that enter my crazy mind.

I suffer from clinical drepression (yeah, I know, who DOESN'T these days?), so hard telling what you might read here, depends on the day.

I can tell you this much, I love animals (ALL of them, even the "ugly-cute" ones). People that abuse, neglect, torture, or mistreat animals are the lowest form of "life" there is. And if you are in any way involved with/watch/support-by-lack-of-action the worthless "sport" of dogfighting.....I hope you die a long, slow, violently painful death..........that way you can know a FRACTION of the torment you but these animals through!!!!

I don't USUALLY get into politics, ( I am eqaul opportunity when it comes to politicians....I don't trust ANY of them!), but this past year was a bit different.
I am so happy and proud that Barak Obama is set to be our next president!! It is about time we had something other than "white", male" and often "old" in the White House!!
That being said, I know he is human. He WILL make mistakes, he WILL fail in some things, and he WON'T be perfect.
But......it was time for a MAJOR change. We needed to switch it up. This is the first time I have ever REALLY followed an election, or even CARED what the outcome would be!
YES WE CAN, baby! Seriously, even if you don't like Pres-Elect Obama, you gotta admit that he is an INCREDIBLE speaker!! The man could read the ingredient list on a cake mix out loud and tears would well in my eyes as I said "Amen, brother, preach it!"

And if I hear ANYONE else say something about himbeing a Muslim, I swear I will punch them!
And so what if he WAS a Muslim....SO FREAKING WHAT!!!!!!!!!!!!!! What on earth is wrong with that? Does it say somewhere in the constitution that our President HAS TO BE a CHRISTIAN???? Don't think so!
I hope someday we DO have a Muslim President! And a Jewish one! Maybe Hindu, Buddist whatever-other-religion-I- can't- remember President!
While we are at it, maybe a female or Latino President!
And dare I say it..... I hope someday (in my lifetime would be AWESOME) we have an (openly) Gay President!! All of those groups (and more) are members of our United States, shouldn't THEY be represented too??
Isn't this country suppose to be a melting pot??? Then lets start melting baby!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I am also a lover of many kinds of music, NOT into country much. I worked in radio as an on-air personality for 15 years. THAT is a whole 'nother blog...................!!!

Okay, I guess this is good for an "intro" to my life as a blogger.

In case you haven't noticed, I firmly believe in Diversity. I have friends from many religions, ethnic/racial backgrounds, sexual orientations/gender identities and so on.
I will admit I have some VERY srtong opinions, and I am EXTREMELY Stubborn. (Just ask my poor husband....God bless him!). But I truly think we need to have eqaulity for the races, for GLBT peoples, for all religions, for people with disabilities ( again, friends with MANY people in that catagory), and for animals. (How I would LOVE a medi-care type thing for the furry babies!).
I have always been an odd mix of personality traits. Shy but talkative, open-minded and yet "closed-minded" to STUPID PEOPLE, friendly but afraid to trust.
Over-all I am too normal for the strange people and too strange for the noraml people.
I fit in everywhere and no where at the same time!! (Good at a party....not so fun the rest of the time)......Is it possible to be BOTH conservative AND Liberal???? Does that make me...a...Librative.......? WHO KNOWS!
